Pakistan's Latif reported for racial abuse

Pakistan wicketkeeper Rashid Latif has been reported by the Australian board to the International Cricket Council [ Images ] for what is believed to be a racial slur, an ICC [ Images ] spokesman said on Wednesday.

Latif played in Tuesday's World Cup Group A defeat by the world champions, top-scoring for his side with an innings of 33 during which he was reportedly involved in an altercation with Australia [ Images ] wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist [ Images ].

The matter will be reviewed by ICC match referee Clive Lloyd [ Images ] at a hearing in Johannesburg starting at 1100 GMT.

The 34-year-old Latif has played 34 test matches and 144 one-day internationals since making his Pakistan debut in 1992.

Australia batsman Darren Lehmann was suspended for five matches last month after making a racist comment in his team's dressing room during a match against Sri Lanka [ Images ].

The final game of Lehmann's ban was Tuesday's opening World Cup victory over Pakistan, and he will be available for Saturday's match against India [ Images ].
