Bhupathi-Knowles survive Czech attack

Fourth seeds Mahesh Bhupathi [ Images ] and Mark Knowles [ Images ] returned to winning ways with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 win over Czechs Tomas Berdych and Lukas Dlouhy [ Images ] in the first round of the Miami [ Images ] Masters on Saturday.

Bhupathi-Knowles had put together a 10 match winning streak with titles in Memphis and Dubai [ Images ] before losing in the Indian Wells quarterfinals to eventual champions Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram [ Images ].

They will nest face Igor Andreev of Russia [ Images ] and Belgian Xavier Malisse, who were 6-0, 6-3 winners over Scandinavian pair of Robert Lindstedt [ Images ] and Jarkko Nieminen.

Top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan [ Images ] were extended to a match tie-break in their first round match against Spanish duo Rafael Nadal [ Images ] and Tommy Robredo [ Images ]

The Bryan twins, looking for their first title of 2008,  battled to a 7-6(5), 3-6, 10-5 victory over Nadal-Robredo.

On Friday, Leander Paes [ Images ] and Paul Hanley [ Images ] beat Swiss Yves Allegro and Paul-Henri Mathieu of France [ Images ] 2-6, 6-0, 10-3 in the first round.
