Coach Fabio Capello [ Images ] named the 32-year-old midfielder, who plays for LA Galaxy, in a 30-man squad for the friendly at the Stade de France. The squad will be cut to 23 on Saturday.

Arsenal [ Images ] forward Theo Walcott [ Images ], 19, has been called up for the first time since he was included in the 2006 World Cup squad.

Middlesbrough defender David Wheater and Portsmouth's prolific striker Jermain Defoe [ Images ] are also in Capello's provisional squad.

The Italian has selected Portsmouth's David James [ Images ], Aston Villa's [ Images ] Scott Carson and Wigan Athletic's Chris Kirkland as his three goalkeepers.
