Harsh Mankad has been rewarded for winning the USD 10,000 ITF tournament in Chandigarh as he was on Saturday included in India's [ Images ] Davis Cup team for the upcoming tie against Japan [ Images ] to be played inNew Delhi [ Images ] from April 11.
Mankad has been named as the fifth member of the team, to be led by Leander Paes [ Images ].
"The selection committee of the All India Tennis Association has decided to include Harsh Mankad as the fifth member of the Davis Cup team. He has made a good comeback to professional tennis after having been down with an injury," an AITA press release said.
Mankad, who last played Davis Cup in 2005 against Uzbekistan in Jaipur [ Images ], missed on-court action for a year due to a knee injury.
Mankad, on Saturday, won the Chandigarh ITF tournament after his opponent Rohan Bopanna [ Images ] pulled out of the final due to an inujry.
