Rain delays start of Wimbledon

Rain delayed the start of Wimbledon [ Images ] on Monday.
The grasscourt Grand Slam is expected to be badly disrupted with showers forecast for much of the opening week.
Former women's champion Martina Hingis [ Images ] was among the players whose first round matches were delayed by at least 90 minutes as drizzle fell over southwest London [ Images ].
Men's champion Roger Federer [ Images ] is scheduled to open Centre Court proceedings but organisers said play would not start until at least 1230 GMT (1800 IST).
