Leander Paes [ Images ] and the Czech Republic's Martin Damm [ Images ] advanced to the second round of the men's doubles at the US Open [ Images ] tennis championship with an easy victory over Petr Pala and Robin Vik on Friday.

The sixth-seeds beat the Czech pair 6-1, 6-2.

In the next round Paes and Damm meet Alexander Peya and Bjorn Phau, who beat the United States Phillip Simmonds and Jesse Witten 7-5, 6-4.  

The Indian star however lost in the mixed doubles later in the day.

Paes and Samantha Stosur [ Images ] of Australia [ Images ], the third seeds, were beaten by Belarussians Max Mirnyi [ Images ] and Victoria Azarenka [ Images ] in the first round. They lost 5-3, 2-6, 5-10.
