US Open [ Images ] mixed doubles champion Mahesh Bhupathi [ Images ], along with Justin Gimelstob of America, entered the quarter-final of the Thailand Open in Bangkok on Wednesday.

The Indo-American pair edged out Robby Ginepri and Gilles Muller 6-5(1), 6-5(1) in the first round.

Bhupathi and Gimelstob are both looking to pick up their second doubles title of 2005. Bhupathi won at the beginning of the year in Sydney [ Images ] with Jonas Bjorkman [ Images ], and Gimelstob collected his 13th career doubles title two weeks ago in Beijing [ Images ] with Nathan Healey.

Bhupathi and Gimelstob will next face the South African duo of Jeff Coetzee and Chris Haggard, who upset fourth seeds Gaston Etlis and Martin Rodriguez of Argentina 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
