Western Railways drubbed Sports Authority of India West Zone 3-0 and made it to the semi-finals from Group B in the Tommy Emar Gold Cup women's hockey tournament at the Mahindra stadium in Mumbai [ Images ] on Monday.
The Railway eves, who led 2-0 at half-time, were the second team to make it to the last four stage along with Air India [ Images ] after the fourth team in their group Ranchi XI pulled out from the tournament at the last minute.
Railways' center-forward Nishi Chavhan put her team ahead in the seventh minute following skipper Poonam Surin's cross.
With just five minutes to go for lemon time, forward Pakpi Devi made it 2-0 with a field goal and in the 66th minute Devi herself rounded off the tally with a penalty-corner conversion.
In the second match of the day, star-studded Pamposh Orissa (Group-A) crushed Sports Authority of India (South) 7-0 after leading 3-0 at half-time.
Pravasini Bage scored a brace (third and 48th minute) while Bahamani Tirkey (9th minute), Basanti Lakra (12th), Sarita Hanuman [ Images ] (42nd), Pratima Tirkey (44th) and Muktaprava
Barla (53rd) scored a goal each for the winners.
On Tuesday, Central Railway will take on Delhi [ Images ] XI while Air India clash with Western Railway to decide the table toppers.
