Second seed P Kashyap of Andhra Pradesh outclassed top seed Jishnu Sanyal of Maharashtra, winning 15-7, 15-12, to lift the boys' singles title in the National Junior Open Badminton Championships in Kozikhode on Friday.

Asian Satellite Open champion and top seed Saina Nehwal made it a memorable double for Andhra by winning the corresponding title for girls. She beat unseeded Aditi Mutatkar of Maharashtra 11-5, 13-10 in the final.

Kashyap, whose impressive show throughout the tournament was sidelined by Jishnu's more aggressive performance, produced his best in the summit clash to outplay the top seed.

Taking the first set 15-7, Kashyap maintained his momentum in the second too although Jishnu looked like rallying. However, the Andhra lad held his nerve to finally win the set at 15-12 to emerge the new champion.

Saina, who had beaten India's number one Aparna Popat to clinch the Asian Satellite title in New Delhi earlier this year, found the going tough against Aditi.

Going up 1-0 after winning the opener 11-5, Saina seemed to relax a bit in the next as Aditi staged a comeback with powerful smashes and impressive returns to draw close.

However, a struggling Saina used all her experience to finally win the set and match at 13-10.

In the mixed doubles, hosts Kerala's Aparna Balan and Arun Vishnu overpowered A Priya (TN) and Amit Khadgi (Rlys) 15-5, 15-6 to emerge winners.

It was a double crown for Saina and Aparna, who after winning the girls' singles and mixed doubles titles respectively, paired up to thrash the Karnataka combination of Ruth Misha an Saumya Padhye 15-2, 15-4.

In the boys' doubles, top seed Jishnu and Akshaye Devalka (Mah) beat the Kerala pair of Ram C Vijay and Arun Vishnu 15-5, 15-6 to emerge champions.
