The third seeded pair defeated Sebastien de Chaunac and Stephane Robert of France [ Images ] 6-1, 6-4 in a first round match.

Earlier, India's Leander Paes [ Images ] and David Rikl of the Czech Republic also advanced to the second round, defeating Juan Ignacio Carrasco and Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo of Spain 6-2, 6-4.
