The top-seeded Indo-Belarusian pair lost the first set before stamping their authority to win the match 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 against Anthony Dupuis of France [ Images ] and Lee Hung-taik of South Korea last night.
Bhupathi and Mirnyi had defeated Slovakian Dominik Hrbaty and Andre Sa [ Images ] of Brazil [ Images ] in their first round match on Wednesday.
The Indian, partnering Paola Suarex of Argentina, also moved into the second round of the mixed doubles event in the championship.
The Indo-Argentine pair overcame a spirited display from Petra Mandula of Hungary and Graydon Oliver of the United States in a round one match on Friday.
