Sania loses Canadian junior doubles final

Sania Mirza [ Images ] and her partner Anna Tchakvetadze of Russia [ Images ] lost in the girls' doubles final of the ITF Grade 1 junior tennis event in Quebec, Canada [ Images ].

Sania and Anna went down 1-6, 6-2, 3-6 to Ana Ivanovic [ Images ] of Yugoslavia and Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia in the final on Friday.

Earlier, Divij Sharan won the boys doubles title with G D Jones of New Zealand [ Images ] after their third-seeded opponents Andrew Murray of Germany [ Images ] and Daniel Vallverdu of Venezuela conceded the final by walkover.

The Indians in the event, including Somdev Dev Verman, Karan Rastogi [ Images ], Sanaa Bhambri and Tara Iyer, now proceed to New York to play in the US Open [ Images ] junior championships, which start on Monday.

In the men's $15,000 Futures event in Tunisia, Sunil Kumar Sipaeya and Ajay Ramaswami won the doubles title defeating Bart de Gier of the Netherlands and Thomas Oger of France [ Images ] 6-1, 6-1 in the final.
