Arrangements for initiating trade across Line of Control [ Images ] and its infrastructural logistics are being given final touches ahead of a formal announcement expected following the meeting between the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [ Images ] and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari [ Images ] in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.
The two sides had agreed to start cross-LoC trade at the meeting of the joint working group on confidence building measures via Uri-Muzaffarabad road and Poonch-Rawalakote routes.
The Kargil-Skardu route is to be added later to the list.
Cross-LoC trade is regarded as a major CBM in the bilateral relations of the two neighbouring countries.
Reviewing the measures at a high level meeting in Srinagar [ Images ] on Tuesday evening, state Governor N N Vohra observed that arrangements would be ready on Uri-Muzaffarabad route by October 15 and on Poonch-Rawalakote route by the end of October.
The joint working group has short-listed the items for trade between the two sides, which will be finalised in consultation with the respective governments.
