Eight persons were killed and 12 others seriously injured in a stampede in Ashok Nagar in Madhya Pradesh [ Images ] on Wednesday evening.

According to the police sources, the incident occurred in the evening on the occasion of 'Rangpanchami' on the 'Sita' temple premises situated in Kareela.

The injured have been admitted to the district hospital.
