Russian President Dmitry Medvedev [ Images ] will pay a three-day visit to New Delhi [ Images ] from December 4 to attend the annual bilateral summit, becoming the first head of the state to undertake the trip following the Mumbai attacks.

Closer bilateral interaction in combating international and cross-border terrorism is expected to top the agenda of the Russian President's talks in New Delhi.

Medvedev will visit New Delhi between December 4 and December 6 for the annual Indo-Russia summit and the formal conclusion of the 'Year of Russia' [ Images ] in India [ Images ], the Kremlin announced today.

Local experts underscore that Medvedev's maiden India visit, which comes soon after the Mumbai terror attacks [ Images ] that claimed 183 lives, should be seen as an expression of solidarity with the people and leadership of India.

On Sunday, Medvedev had telephoned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [ Images ] and expressed solidarity and sympathy with the people of India and vowed to closely interact with New Delhi in combating terror threat to both the countries.
