Seventeen Tibetans were arrested on Saturday for trying to cross into China from the cold desert region of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir [ Images ].

Tibet [ Images ]an refugees in the Buddhist majority Leh district of Ladakh have been carrying on daily protests since the past one month against the alleged Chinese excesses in Tibet.

Police said a group of 15 men and two women was intercepted and arrested in the border village of Humua in Leh district.

"A case has been registered against them," a police spokesman said in Srinagar [ Images ].
