Congress on Wednesday said it was not averse to a tie up with the Nationalist Congress Party in the forthcoming assembly elections in Gujarat.
"The NCP is our partner in the United Progressive Alliance [ Images ]. We are not averse to any tie up with that party," All India [ Images ] Congress Committee general secretary B K Hariprasad told PTI.
His statement has come at a time when the Congress is making a determined effort to wrest power from the Bharatiya Janata Party [ Images ] in the state ruled by Narendra Modi [ Images ].
Failure to avoid division of secular votes in the 2002 assembly polls had resulted in considerable losses to the Congress is the western state.
