Sarabjit's lawyer files review petition

Sarabjit Singh's lawyer on Wednesday filed a petition in Pakistan's Supreme Court seeking a judicial review of its earlier decision sentencing him to death for his alleged involvement in the 1990 bomb blasts in Punjab [ Images ] province.

Singh's lawyer Rana Abdul Hamid told PTI from Lahore [ Images ] that he has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court Registry seeking a review of the death sentence.

A two-member bench of the apex court has upheld the death sentence awarded by an Anti Terrorism [ Images ] Court and Lahore high court.

A bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the death sentence against him in yet another case for which a review petition would be filed separately after the court released its detailed judgement, Hamid said.

According to Pakistan police, Singh has been accused of masterminding five bomb blasts in Pakistan's Punjab province killing 14 people and wounding 89 others.

Hamid in his review petition argued that Pakistan police wrongly identified Sarabjit Singh as Manjeet Singh.
