Slumdog Millionaire to release in India

After making waves overseas, Danny Boyle's [ Images ] Slumdog Millionaire [ Images ] is all set to release in India [ Images ] in January. The film stars Anil Kapoor [ Images ], Irrfan Khan [ Images ] and newcomers Dev Patel [ Images ] and Freida Pinto [ Images ].

For its Indian release, Slumdog Millionaire has been dubbed in Hindi, and re-titled Slumdog Millionaire: Kaun Banega Karorepati.

The film tells the story of a boy from the Mumbai [ Images ] slums, whose adventures take him from begging on the streets to the popular gameshow Who Wants to be a Millionaire? where he surprises everyone with his knowledge.

The film has won people's choice award at the Toronto film festival and was given a rousing applause at the London [ Images ] Film Festival.

It is a strong contender for the Oscars [ Images ]. A R Rahman [ Images ] recently triumphed at the Los Angeles awards, and bagged an award for best composer. Boyle bagged the best director's award at the ceremony.
