The United Progressive Alliance government is likely to announce the names of the other four members of the pay panel by Monday. The prime minister has to approve the four members of the commission.

The government will also release a formal notification listing the terms and references of the commission soon. The 6th Pay Commission is expected to file its report by 2007-end.

Justice B N SrikrishnaThe Chief Justice of India Y K Sabharwal on Thursday gave his approval to Justice Srikrishna to head the pay panel. Conventionally, the chief justice is consulted before any judge is appointed to head a commission.
