Western Australia [ Images ] coach Tom Moody said on Thursday he had rejected an offer to apply for the job of England [ Images ] head coach.

Former coach Peter Moores was sacked in January after his relationship with the then captain Kevin Pietersen [ Images ] broke down.

"I've been contacted by the head hunters," former Sri Lanka [ Images ] coach Moody was quoted as saying on the cricinfo website.

"I'm not making an application for the job. The head hunters have to produce a list and I'm not going to be on it."

Submissions for the England coaching position close on Friday. A spokesman for the England and Wales cricket board said it hoped to have a new coach in place in time for the home Test series against West Indies [ Images ] in May.
