Chidambaram writes to GatesThe government has welcomed Microsoft's move to set up a software development centre in India, the first such centre to be set up outside the US.
In a letter to Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has assured all possible assistance by the government.
Microsoft whose software is installed in over two thirds of the world's PCs, is likely to make an announcement to this effect by the yearend.
Recent media reports had quoted Microsoft Vice-President for Intercontinental Operations Orlando Ayala as saying that India is definitely being picked as a centre. It is not a question of if, it is a question of when."
