Transmatic to sell Hansol monitorsTransmatic Systems Limited, based in Thiruvananthapuram, has tied up with Hansol Corporation, an affiliate of Samsung group of South Korea, for selling a range of the latter's digital colour monitors in India.
The company plans to introduce three models of the high-resolution FST monitors in the sizes of 17 inches, 15 inches and 14 inches, according to M R Narayanan, managing director.
He told newspersons that the monitors have anti-reflection and anti-static coating on the screen, a 3-dB bandwidth, going up to 110 MHz in the 17 inches model.
They are also capable of overcoming wide voltage fluctuations. The monitors have an on-screen display facility and separate variations in individual colour saturation levels.
These features make the products suitable for professionals, in CAD/CAM, multimedia and Internet applications and for high-quality picture editing, Narayanan claimed.
The monitors are priced at Rs 28,400, Rs 14,900 and Rs 11,300 for the 17 inches, 15 inches and 14 inches sizes, respectively.
Though the present arrangement is for selling the products in India, the company may enter into a technical tieup with the $ 4-billion Korean firm at a later stage and start manufacturing the monitors within the country.
Transmatic, a listed company, is engaged in the production of computer peripherals and telecommunication accessories and software exports. The major products include high-speed printers and image scanners, digital pair gains systems for telecommunications, STD PCO meter, PC-based telex machines and communication software solutions for the banking industry.
Narayanan said the company, which recently obtained an ISO-9002 certification, plans to come out with high-quality laser printers and passbook printers in technical collaboration with foreign companies.
For the year ending March 31, 1997, the company reported a turnover of Rs 150 million with a net profit of Rs 4 million.
